It’s fast approaching, but Sunday 22nd March is the date for your diary! Before you get the cold shoulder, it’s time to get your table booked for Mother’s Day otherwise it’s a tin of beans and an emergency bunch of flowers from the garage. No one wants that. Least of all Mummy-dearest, even if she says its “fine”. Ouch.
So, get ahead and into the good books by reserving your table nice and early, guaranteeing your table and future inheritance.
Whether it’s a meal for just the two of you to enjoy a cosy catch up, or celebrating with the whole family, surprise Mom with a table at the Mendip! Oh, and don’t forget the Mother-in-law too, make it a proper family affair.
Our Sunday lunch menu is tried, tested and perfected to bring you the best seasonal produce and celebrate all things family every week. And Mothering Sunday should be no exception. We have all the classics including homemade soup, paté and prawn cocktail, something to keep Granny happy! Alongside we have BBQ Chicken Wings, Salt & Pepper Squid, or an indulgent Butternut Squash Risotto to tempt you with and get your lunch off to a flying start.
It’s got to be a traditional roast, hey? Choose from our succulent cuts of Roast Topside of Beef or Slow Braised Brisket if you’re a roast beef fan. To compliment our full roast offering we also have our finest Roasted Leg of Somerset Pork and Roast Lamb Wellington if you’d like something more spring-like. All roasts come served with a huge, homemade Yorkshire pudding, because that’s only fair, right?!
You can never, ever forget about dessert. For a sweet toothed mum, our Bramley Apple & Oat Crumble Tart is a must. However is something slightly creamy & cool is more her thing then she’ll love our Vanilla Panna Cotta or the Very Berry Cheesecake; both slightly lighter and less guilt-ridden! However, if mum is going all out then can we tempt her with our decadent Belgian Chocolate Brownie or everyone’s favourite, Sticky Toffee Pudding? They’re the way to win over hearts for another year!
Our Mum’s Day menu is perfectly complemented by our Aperitifs and cocktails. These are lovingly crafted by our bartending team, using the finest local ingredients. Likewise, make your meal complete with one of our speciality coffees and digestifs.

Its March, the month of daffodils, baby lambs, and all things fresh & green! The memories of the cold, dark nights are starting to fade, and new life is budding on every branch. Spring is the most invigorating of all seasons, particularly when it comes to fresh ingredients, and our new menu is just that!
To celebrate, we are launching our new seasonal menu. Our dedicated kitchen team have been crafting new dishes just for you to try. We have worked in collaboration with our trusted local suppliers, ensuring the finest produce in the Somerset region is in our offering.
Our talented chefs have carefully created a set of unique menus for lunch & dinner, a new Sunday lunch menu, alongside new children’s menus to give little ones a treat too. This spring we are bringing you the flavours and luxurious aromas of Italy on our new starter plates. How about sampling our Arancini Balls or a Risotto with butternut squash & sage, which have a strong Italian influence. You can’t miss our Ballotine of Chicken, wrapped with spinach, chorizo, Parma ham, and topped with a garlic mushroom sauce.
Following one of the largest food trends in recent years we are continuously improving and developing our vegetarian and vegan dishes. With all the fresh new produce spring is the perfect season to try a plant-based diet. Can we tempt you with our new Kung Po Cauliflower, Moroccan Vegetable Tagine, or our Quinoa & Spinach Burger, perhaps? All cooked using the freshest local herbs, fruit and vegetables from our local growers, we hope you’re going to love them! And we could never forget the desserts. Sample delights such as Sticky Toffee Pudding, Crème Brulée, or our Country Pub Trio if you’re torn between a few dishes!

Delightful Valentine's Food and a special Valentine's Day Menu
February is the month of romance. Forget the cold, dark nights; it’s time to treat the one you love to a delicious three course dinner here with us at The Mendip Inn. Treat a potential partner, wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, husband, or even your Galentine’s bestie to a cosy dinner and make them feel super special. Forget the over-priced flowers and trashy gifts, show your affection in the best way anyone’s heart – food! Our exquisite menu will be a treat to remember, and put you in the good books for months to come.
Our talented chefs have carefully created this unique menu to give you a real treat, available for either lunch or for dinner on 14th February. We have a tantalising sharing platter to start with, including Chicken and Chorizo Croquettes, Patatas Bravas, Tempura Battered Prawns, Salmon Mousse, and our personal favourite Deep Fried Mac & Cheese – you’ll be living your best life with that fine selection! If you’re fine dining meat lover, then to tickle your taste buds we have main course options including Ballentine of Chicken, 8oz Rump Steak, and Lamb Wellington. If a fish dish is more your thing, then we have a delicious Fillet of Salmon in puff pastry with hollandaise sauce. However if you’d prefer a meat-free option then let us tempt you with a gorgeous Chestnut Mushroom Bourguignon, or a Vegetable Wellington instead! And then, the desserts – a true Valentine’s treat! Enjoy our assiette of Vanilla Cheesecake, Crème Brulée, and Rocky Road with Chocolate Brownie – perfect if you and your loved one are chocaholics!

Fresh market fish specials every Friday from 12pm - 2:30pm & 6pm - 9pm
New for 2019 we have combined two of our favourite things: Fridays and beautifully cooked fresh fish!
Fresh Fish Friday launched in January and so far the dishes have been sensational, we have had great feedback from our customers and we are just as excited as you are to see what chef creates each week.
We wanted to try something new for 2019, and January seemed like a great place to start. Our Head Chef loves creating dishes and pairing ingredients, so we thought we’d give him a challenge. We pop down to the market each Friday morning and pick up a few of the freshest fish options available on that day, it’s then down to our chef to come up with incredible fish specials. The dishes are then put up on our specials board and prepared to our high standard all before our first guests arrive!
We serve our fresh fish specials from 12pm – 2:30pm and 6pm – 9:30pm every Friday! You will be able to choose from a number of specials, each one featuring a beautiful piece of fish or seafood at the very heart of the dish. Each special will be created to compliment a seasonal piece of seafood and will be developed on that day. The specials will be creative, inventive and, of course, will include a piece of fish as it’s main focus. The special dishes are created fresh each week, there will therefore be different specials every Friday!
